Fruits, vegetables become stuff of poetry

The boyfriend admitted to me last night that the produce delivery excited him too. And here I was thinking he was indifferent! (slaps forehead)
Thursday's our day to get delivery and he sent me this email...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the First Day of Autumn, Boston Organics sent
to me ...

A dozen little yellow potatoes
One head of lettuce
One chubby eggplant
FIVE! SWEET! POTATOES!
Four oranges
Three little green apples
Two beautiful red bell peppers
A pair of forlorn plums

And a bunch of Peruvian bananas!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My only gripe with Boston Organics is their obsession with sending me copious amounts of bananas and plums. I am going to have to make some serious amounts of banana bread and I need to do something with these plums. Perhaps a cobbler? Grilling them and serving them with a balsamic reduction? A fruited quinoa salad? Hmmm....

Bananas are great smoothie fodder. Plums? Hmmmm...maybe a pllum tart? (God, I just have to let his tart thing go already)

How funny! I think I would be excited enough to spout off poetry myself. Hmm, plums... You could make a plum tart, those are always good. Or, if you have access to a dehydrator, you could dry them. Just some suggestions--I'm sure whatever you do with them will be great!

Your delivery sounds so delicious. I have to get off my butt and sign up for our CSA already! I just recently realized that frozen bananas make much better smoothies than fresh- so if you have extras, chop and freeze 'em!
I *loved* your farm sanctuary photos, by the way!

Thank you so much for the kindo offer to send me Sam's coat for Noble. Noble's a big dog though (75 pounds) so if Sam's outgrown it, I'm kind of doubting that it'll fit Noble. You're so sweet!

Lol! Cute poem! I'd be singing and poem writing over a Boston Organics delivery too!!

Plums....maybe some jam, if you have enough? I like Laura's idea of drying/dehydrating them!!

Thanks for sharing your farm sanctuary experience.... goat skins, eeeek! When I get leftover fruits I enjoy cutting up the leftovers into peices, freezing and making smoothies.... any flavor.

You and the donkey in a zen moment. :)

your boyfriend send you poetry...gasp, that's awesome. I used to have organics delivered too, but I found it difficult to wrap my eating patterns around whatever they decided to send me.

As much as I love to food shop, I think it would be thrilling to have all that beautiful food appear at your doorstep! Don't complain - start baking banana muffins!

Also check out my Plum Quinoa Salad.....
