Time is FLYING!

I've been a bad blogger. I've been working too late, doing too much for the wedding planning and getting sick at the drop of a hat. This is why I'm not only blogging but I've been taking a bit of a hiatus from cooking. I am so burnt out.

I want to thank you all for well wishes and I can assure you that more food, treats and lots of Sam pics are in store for ya'll who still read me in the future.

Wedding stuff! It has been a crazy struggle. It took us forever to get a date set (October 6th!) because we had issues finding a reception venue/caterer that actually could accomodate vegan menu items. We finally found a lovely venue that was substantially less expensive than many of the options we looked into and it is doubly fortunate that it is a hotel so our out of town guests can have a one stop shop. Flowers and dress are all set as well. (I don't like wedding dress shopping and I think that I would like to remain married if for no other reason than to prevent myself from having to go through that again).

But...I found out later that my dress is famous. Really. I googled the designer and found this picture:

Let me assure you that this head piece is not in consideration.

So that's it!

Now, my blog friends. I need your help. I need help finding shoes for said occaision. My predicament is this: I have big feet and need stable shoes. By stable, I mean wedges, platforms or chunky heels. Oh, and I'd like veg*n shoes as well. The big problem is, I have size 11 hooves. If any of you find something great on the web, please let me know!

Thanks! :)

Nikk!!! i am so happy to see you blog. Shoes... vegan shoes in size 11... let me see what i can find out for you!!

i have been missing you but kinda figgered you've been busy planning the wedding. i don't like this getting sick thing and knowing you are burnt out (at least at the present moment). i REALLY hope you start feeling better SOON and STAY that way.

So, Oct. 6, 'eh? Sounds like a great day it will be. Love knowing that most of the big deal issues have been sorted out for you already. i can only imagine how stressful that must have been.

The dress is gorgeous. You're gonna be SUCH a stunning bride. Lucky Sam! :o) And i think your "Save the Day!!!" note is just adorable. You are such a cutie and so is he. Great pix!!

Hey, Nikk! It's so good to hear from you! I know you've been crazy busy, but it sounds like everything is coming along nicely. I love the dress - you'll be stunning! If you had blond hair, you would look just like the model.

Hey Nikki! I hope you're feeling better. And how cool that you've set the date- the countdown is on. After looking and looking, I finally found my vegan wedding shoes at... payless! Especially if they're going to be shoes you only wear a couple of times, who cares if they're cheapo, right? Most payless shoes (but not all) do not use leather. Good luck!

One friend wore white flip flops, another wore ballet slipper type flats and another wore simple white tennis shoes - and these were all under super fancy dresses. I think you should wear something comfortable and not worry about looks as much. THe last thing you want are blistered and sore feet on your wedding day.

Hope to see more of you soon!

I love your save the day cards..

Very cool about you coming to the cafe... please don't mention this at all... but if you come at brunch, don't order the tofu scramble.. it is not very good.. it was my bosses recipe and for some reason, she is attached to it.. if you order the sampler plate, get an extra pancake, sausage, french toast or double roasted potatoes! ..

I've ordered shoes from zappos a bunch of times, and one of the search defining type criteria you can choose is "vegetarian." They also have super-fast shipping and a no questions asked return policy. (Oh yeah -- free shipping on returns, too.) You could always order several pairs, try them all on, and choose your favorite!

Good to see a post from you! I know this stuff is stressful... at least give your body a break - I'm sorry you've been getting so sick!

Umm, I just wore flat slipper-like shoes at my wedding... actually, no, I went barefoot at my wedding, but those are the shoes I bought to wear at the reception, etc. I'm not too good with fashion and I've never ordered shoes online, so I may not be a huge help. That's so funny about the dress though! Take care!

Yea!! A post! I stop by while doing my "rounds" in hopes that you've put something up. This one is fantastic! Aside from the being sick part. Get some rest and try to de-stress. (This coming from a semi-work-a-holic stress-bag worrier) Massage therapy works wonders. So do pedicures. There are times when all of us have situations where we can't eat properly. Take a multi-vitamin & B5. My naturopath had me on B5 for an energy boost. And don't forget the Omegas!
I ADORE the dress you chose! I'm not one for frills and bows and pouf. Simple, elegant & classic is the way to go. You'll look WAAAAY better than Reese Witherspoon on your big day. It's excellent that you found a caterer that understands what you want. Can't wait to hear about that. I know you'll be a little "busy" on Oct. 6, but perhaps you could enlist someone to take photos of the food so you can include them in your wedding blog.
As for shoes - (see what happens when you don't blog for a while - we all run off at the mouth) I'm with Bazu. I have found some of the best deals on "man made material" shoes at Payless, Wal-Mart, Sears, etc. When we used to have K-Mart in Canada, I would get such great deals on shoes. I was really ticked when they closed up here. I'm also with Crystal on the comfortable aspect. Having been to many, many weddings and having been in a few wedding parties, comfort is a MUST. Tennis shoes with lace or satin laces would be ideal. If you opt for a dressier shoe, get some white slippers you can wear for the dance portion of the evening. I will never go to a wedding again without slippers. Don't worry about it too much. Your dress is long and no one really notices your shoes anyway, except for the garter removal. Looking forward to your next post!

Hey Nikki, hope your wedding plans are going well. Congrats on setting a date. I can sympathize about trying to find good, vegan size 11 shoes. When I got married, I wore some chunky platform sandel/shoes I bought years before at DSW Shoe Warehouse of all places. And also, keep an eye out on eBay. You might find what you're looking for there.

I love the Save the Date cards and the gorgeous (and famous!) gown!

I hope you are feeling better and can slow down on the planning a little and enjoy yourself.

I like the links Kleo posted for vegan shoes. I also find lots of vegan ones at DSW, and I love them!!
